Protein bars are essential to me because I simply do not want to get caught out stuffing my face full of junk when I’m need of a snack.
There are times when you just don’t have immediate access to healthy food and so a good tasting home made protein bar can be a life saver.
Here’s a quick and easy recipe you can use to bulk-make your weekly supply.
Banana And Peanut Butter Protein Bars
- 3 very ripe bananas
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 2 tsp honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 250g porridge oats
- 50g nuts and/or seeds
How To Make Banana And Peanut Butter Protein Bars
Mix the bananas, peanut butter, honey, cinnamon and vanilla in a mixer until very smooth.
Add the porridge oats and nuts/seeds and mix until combined.
Spoon the mix into a baking tray lined with parchment.
Press and flatten until evenly distributed.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown on edges.
Allow to cool completely before cutting bars.
Store in the fridge to take with you to work or for when your hunger pangs kick in and you need a healthy snack.
