These no bake energy bites are delicious.
So delicious that before I continue with details on how to make them I feel obliged to issue a health warning:
You will want to consume the entire batch, not share them with your friends or even feel guilty about your diet.
Yes they are that good.
Having said that if you can muster the discipline of staying on track with your diet then these little beauties can help the sweetness cravings that we all get from time to time so long as you don’t scoff the lot.
The are also handy as a post workout energy boost since the main ingredient – rolled porridge oats – is slow release whilst the honey acts as a quick and healthy energy boost.
Oh, there is no cooking involved either.
No Bake energy Bites
- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 1/2 cup almond butter (peanut butter is also a good option)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup raw honey
- optional: 1/4 cup flaxseed (ground is preferable but not necessary)
How to make no bake energy bites:
Using one hand squish all the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl ensuring that the porridge oats are thoroughly coated with the honey and nut butter.
In one hand grab some mixture and gently squeeze into balls, place onto a small plate and either put them straight into the freezer for half an hour or in the fridge for 2 hours where they can be stored.
Try not to eat them all at once.
