I feel absolutely fantastic.
I literally started the day at 5.00am Saturday morning listening to a meditation podcast on Spotify.
I would usually be working out in the morning but my last workout this week was Wednesday.
I always like to have a chat with them about training and they super friendly and helpful.
They basically stated that I needed a ‘deload’ to allow my hormones and muscles a period of recovery from the heavy lifting I’ve been doing lately.
A deload is basically when someone who mainly lifts weights for their fitness goals reduces the weights by around 50% for a period of about a week.
It has come at a good time because my left elbow had started to become sore two weeks ago.
The soreness is starting to disappear now that I’m not lifting and I’m feeling a lot less stressed maybe from the hormones having time to recover as well.
The PT’s did warm me that I should deload for only one week and then get right back to the weights again.
But I’m feeling quite content not doing any exercise at all for the next seven days unless I feel a deep need to get a workout in.
Which will probably be tomorrow.
If that’s the case then I might try one of the one week cardio challenges inside my online studio.
One things for sure I’ve learnt that exercising is essential (at least to me).
But taking a break whilst listening to meditation podcasts can have an incredibly calm and soothing effect on the mind and body.
I’ve even had time to meal prep an entire weeks worth of cooked spiced chicken breast.
I’be also prepped frozen fruit for next week’s lunchtime chocolate superfood shakes.
But I feel just so calm and relaxed and able to do more.
Yes deloading is good and it’s here to stay.
