It’s the weekend and we’re away as a family at Legoland, Windsor, United Kingdom.
It’s 12.35am as I write this and I’ve been reflecting on the food we’ve eaten as a family today.
Pizza, pasta, crisps, chocolate and an Indian meal at a local restaurant.
Not bad at all and as I look at myself in the mirror I see a bloated belly from all the sodium contained within these foods.
This sort of weekend eating for fun used to bother me but these days it has become quite the norm.
Especially when you’re buzzing from the sheer geekery and excitement of Star Wars lego models.
Or posing with Darth Vader
I don’t think I will ever try and ‘be good’ over the weekend ever again.
It’s simply not worth it.
The memories we’re creating and the moments we’ve shared today as a family simply make life worth living.
Plus pizza is mandatory on any family excursion.
So I’m saying not loud and proud: you don’t have to be good!
Yes Monday to Friday I’m a nutritional Jedi, weekends I’m a Sith Lord.
Reminds me of a song by The Specials that I once saw Jools Holland cover live:
Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think
Enjoy yourself, while you’re still in the pink
The years go by, as quickly as you wink
Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think
This is my new happy place.
